It’s called Carney’s Last Ball, but it’s not about me. I got off easy. I have a spare. What about all those people who lost something they couldn’t spare? What about the hundreds of thousands who lost a mother, father, child, sibling or best friend to cancer in the last year? What about the millions more who will lose someone they love in the coming years? It’s about taking a negative and turning it into a positive. It’s about harnessing the love that you’ve all shown me, and turning it into something bigger. It’s about the size of the hearts of the people in our lives, and the desire we all possess to make a difference. It’s not about complaining about what has happened in the past. It’s about preventing it from happening in the future. It’s about better research, better medicine, better treatment, and better results. It’s about finding a cure.
